Itinerary Day by Day
Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Ait Ben Haddou - Dades Valley
Depart Marrakech early in the morning and cross the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying sweeping views of rugged peaks, valleys, and Berber villages along the Tizi n'Tichka pass. Stop for refreshments at a local cafe before reaching Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Morocco's best-preserved fortified villages, famous as a filming location for major international productions. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue past Skoura Oasis along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, through the Tamnalt Hills and their striking rock formations, to your overnight stay in the Dades Valley.
Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Merzouga - Erg Chebbi Desert
After breakfast, discover the dramatic Todra Gorges, where towering cliffs rise from the High Atlas foothills. Continue through Berber villages toward Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Meet your camels and guide for a ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi as the sun sets over the desert. Spend the night in a traditional Berber camp with a home-cooked dinner and music around the fire under the stars.
Erg Chebbi - Rissani - Draa Valley - Marrakech
Enjoy a final desert morning before driving back through the historic town of Rissani and Erfoud, known as the capital of Moroccan fossils. Cross the Saghro volcanic mountains, taking in panoramic views, then follow the Draa Valley, Morocco's largest oasis, along the base of the High Atlas Mountains. Arrive back in Marrakech in the evening.
